What I’m going to share with you today is a true story and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever shared with you before…
The story I’m about to share is a testament to the power of love, determination, and the unbreakable spirit of a little dachshund who defied all odds.
Which is why we are proud to share Doxie’s Journey and officially name her ShawnCo’s September Ambassador of the Month!
Our story starts off in 2021, when a little dachshund named Doxie got some devastating news…
Her world, which was once filled with joyful walks and endless play, was suddenly confined to immobility, as Doxie became paralyzed…
The vet told her parents that surgery wasn’t an option, as Doxie had no feeling in her hind legs…
And with surgery ruled out, her family was given only two options…
Let her cross the Rainbow Bridge, or try a holistic treatment with uncertain outcomes…
Without a second thought her family chose the path of hope, turning to a holistic vet 45 minutes away in a desperate attempt to give Doxie a fighting chance.
The holistic vet, while willing to try, warned that too much time had passed and Doxie’s outcome was uncertain...
The Vet gave Doxie only one week to show improvement or the family would be forced to make an agonizing decision…
Despite the odds being stacked against her, Doxie wasn’t ready to give up, and neither was her family.
For five agonizing days, there were no signs of improvement, and the heartbreak was overwhelming…
But on the sixth day, with the cheers and support of her family, something miraculous happened…
Doxie stood up
She was a bit unsteady, but it was a start.
Over the next few weeks she used a towel to support her hind legs and continued going to therapy, as she slowly regained her strength.
And after weeks of daily walks in her stroller, she was finally walking again on her own.
And now, a year later, she has fully recovered, and enjoys daily walks, just as she did before her paralysis.
Doxie’s journey wasn’t easy, but the love and determination between her and her human made it possible.
Doxie’s story is a powerful testament to the resilience of a dog who refused to give up, and a family who refused to let her.
